ACM 2024: Inspiring the Next Generation

On Thursday, October 31st, Columbia Manufacturing Inc. participated in the Aerospace Components Manufacturers Inc. Annual Aerospace Alley Future Workforce Opportunities Fair and Tradeshow.

During the first part of the day, Chris Vallera, Director of Business Development, and Amy Osorio, Human Resources Manager, met nearly 1,300 middle and high school students from Connecticut and Massachusetts to talk with them about future career opportunities in aerospace manufacturing.

Student learning was enhanced with a hands-on display of CMI parts, including burner cans, bee hives, and rings, to name a few.  The showcased parts demonstrated the multiple processes we do at CMI and visually depicted the different stages each part goes through from start to finish.

Networking in Aerospace Alley

ACM hosted an excellent lunch featuring impressive speakers, including Paul Lavoie, Chief Manufacturing Officer of Connecticut; Dr. Rory McGloin from UCONN; Joe Marcheschi from Airbus Americas; and Senator Richard Blumenthal.

The day ended with the highly anticipated tradeshow where Chris and Amy had a chance to connect with industry professionals to exchange ideas and make new connections. Thank you to everyone who visited our booth! We are proud to inspire the next generation of manufacturers and collaborate with fellow suppliers in the aerospace community right here in Connecticut!
