Burr Bench Operator, 1st Shift or 2nd Shift
JOB SUMMARY
We are looking for an experienced Burr Bench Operator who can grind and smooth surfaces of items, such as machined and fabricated aerospace components using a variety of hand tools.
LOCATION: Columbia, CT
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Examines and feels surface of workpiece for defects.
- Selects grade of abrasive belt, wheel, or disk according to specifications, knowledge of abrasives, and condition of metal, and attaches to grinder.
- Starts grinder and moves it over surface of workpiece to remove scratches, laminated metal, excess weld material, and burrs.
- Polishes ground area with finer abrasive to produce smooth, unmarred surface.
- Replaces worn abrasive disk, wheels, and belts.
- Actively work to find the most cost effective process.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls as well as reach with hands and arms.

- Attention to detail in follow work instructions including the use of proper personal protective equipment to perform the tasks safely.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualified candidate must demonstrate training ability and be able to support internal customer needs. The individual must be able to accurately read blueprints, and able to lift a maximum of 30 pounds. They must be committed to quality, safety and communication and be a team player. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED is preferred. A minimum of 5 years experience burring fabricated parts in an aerospace or other high quality market environment. Must possess strong basic math skills and have a proven history of working with gauges, calipers and other inspection equipment.
