Maintenance Mechanic

JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Facilities Manager, the Maintenance Mechanic will work with other maintenance personnel to ensure our equipment, infrastructure, and safety protocols meet the standards required to produce aerospace components, while optimizing efficiency and minimal downtime. This role is essential for supporting our commitment to high-quality production and on-time delivery to our customers. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, and experienced in machine maintenance, with vast technical and mechanical knowledge, takes extreme pride in their work and is customer focused.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Maintain facility equipment and infrastructure, ensuring all machinery, HVAC systems, and production equipment are maintained and repaired, and functioning efficiently and safely.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance to maximize equipment productivity and extend machinery lifespan.
  • Provide emergency/ unscheduled repairs of equipment during production. Troubleshoot and diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make required adjustments.
  • Work with maintenance team to ensure the facility complies with all federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA standards. Proactively conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and enforce workplace safety practices.
  • Maintain facilities and grounds, including lawn care, leaf removal, preparing facilities for inclement weather, and snow removal.
  • Perform janitorial tasks, such as changing light bulbs, sweeping and/or mopping, cleaning restrooms and assisting with trash removal when necessary.
  • Perform basic plumbing repairs such as cleaning clogged drains/toilets, replacing faucets and fixtures, washers, gaskets, piping and fittings.
  • Perform basic carpentry and related repairs such as hinges, window treatments, locks and other small repair tasks.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Experience with CNC machines, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, HVAC systems and building maintenance. Experience with high-precision equipment and machine shop operations a plus.
  • Ability to perform repairs on CNC and manual milling and turning machinery and equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of a variety of manufacturing equipment related to welding, forming, hydraulic presses, cranes and hoists, lathes and milling machines.
  • Ability to operate equipment such as fork lift, plow truck and skid steer.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of OSHA and other environmental regulations.
  • Ability to understand written directions in manuals and on manufacturers websites.
  • Accustomed to working in a fast-paced environment, able to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills, and ability to work successfully under pressure.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • 3-5 years of prior experience working as a Maintenance Mechanic in a manufacturing facility or a fabrication machine shop environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Primary duties will be on the shop floor, working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, stand, squat, bend, twist, and reach often.
  • Exposure to various temperatures and weather conditions when outdoors, noise and vibration form power equipment, dust, sawdust, fumes.
  • Periodically will work at heights on ladders, lifts, or roofs.
