Manufacturing Manager

JOB SUMMARY
Manage the first and second shift manufacturing operations by supervising and planning work for assigned employees and optimizing equipment output for maximum productivity. Drive all operational activities to achieve on-time delivery while meeting all quality assurance requirements. Manage team members by establishing effective lines of communication. Provide change leadership within the business.

LOCATION: Columbia, CT

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Lead a group of skilled and unskilled manufacturing personnel and supervisory leads to safely execute day to day operations within budget, on time and defect free.
  • Monitor and adjust production plans as problems arise.
  • Drive safety initiatives through all manufacturing operations. Monitor the manufacturing team to ensure operations are compliant with EH&S standards.
  • Monitor and improve processes through the use of LEAN and six sigma concepts.
  • Understand and execute daily production schedules. Align labor resources to achieve manufacturing targets. Work with Purchasing, Engineering and Quality to solve issues that prevent schedules from being executed.
  • Ensure key metrics and objectives (cost, quality and delivery) are being met and written plans are in place for improvements.
  • Management of manufacturing personnel to include:
    • Hiring and mentoring to effectively meet business goals and customer needs. including performance evaluations.
    • Ensure a competent cross trained workforce by facilitating on-the-job training and cross training through work assignments and use of mentoring to provide learning opportunities and maximum use of equipment
    • Approval of PTO and review/approval of weekly labor records.
  • Use data to analyze and provide solutions to manufacturing problems.
  • Schedule the maintenance of production equipment to ensure efficient operations.
  • Provide manufacturing technical support to shop personnel to ensure productivity goals are being met.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Engineering on new opportunities.
  • Drive company initiatives within the Manufacturing organization.
  • Ensure that all customer, company, and industry standards are adhered to.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Candidate should have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and/or 10 years’ experience in a related role.  Aerospace industry experience is preferred.  Experience with PFMEAs and Control Plans is a plus.  Must possess strong knowledge of blueprints, technical specifications, working in an ISO quality system and must be proficient with Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office programs.
